Tabloid magazines such as “OK” or “Stars”, are false media to the public. They take photos of celebrities or public figures doing routines or things in their everyday lives, and critique them for it, or point out their flaws. It’s false media, because on several occasions, they take pictures, or put the people in situations where they react, and then publicize it. For example, earlier today I saw a “OK”magazine and on the front was a picture of Robert Pattinson, and Kristen Stewart, and big bold letters saying “JUST MARRIED”. This is false media, because when in fact I read the information, it was just a part in the “Twilight” series, not in real life. this gives false information to the public and can false have someone believe something that isn’t true.
Bernie Sanders Speaks for Middle Class
Bernie Sanders the Senator of Vermont speaks a powerful speech to the President, against the powerful leaders of the country. He states all the flaws, and problems about society. He goes to say how the middle class and poor are being taking advantage of by the upper class. They are taken advantage of by the upper class having massive tax breaks, and the middle class having to work longer days for less money to be run by the government. It’s a sad story to know this is how crooked our country has come, and how greed is running this world to the ground. It’s unfair to the majority of the country suffer so the wealthy can have more power. I am a big fan of Bernie Sanders after this speech.
Video Games
During my generation, we have seen video games go from simple, easy, entertaining, to advanced, complex, and addicting. When I was growing up, video games were a small market in the media, for it was simple, affordable, and basic. However, over the years, games and the systems became more advanced. They went from plastic squares, to discs, playing solo, to playing on live, few games and options to endless amounts. Furthermore, the market for videos has grown drastically since the systems them selves have been advancing. However, during my early years video games were almost non existant, and now fifteen years later, they’re one of the leading industries. Overall, the mass market and media from video games has grown over the years as the systems them selves improved, having an impact on society that is growing.
Working Class Hero John Lennon
The song “Working Class Hero” by John Lennon is one of my favorite songs by him, for it is very, strong, it sends a clear message on being a hero and not falling a subject to the several commanding rules and powers we live by through media. It conflicts media in the sense that John down talks the media, and religion, and governments rules and principles people are suppose to live by. The thing I find interesting is that he down talks the media, and the rules, by singing lyrics such as ” They hurt you at home and they hit you at school, They hate you if your clever and they despise a fool”. He also states ” Keep you dope with religion and sex and TV and you think you’re so classless and free”, that the media has you follow the rules they set forth through religion, sex, and TV, and we all think were so free, yet were all under the control of the media. This has a strong impact to me cause it does open my eyes and speak to me the ways in how media is restricting our lives and making us something were not. It opened my eyes to not be so dependent of the media and the conception on the population, but to be what John Lennon sang, “A Working Class Hero”.
Shards of glass
The commercial shards of glass that shows and tells cigarette that are bad and kill people, yet it is the companies selling the product. It is very hypocritical for them to sell the product knowing that it kills and harms people, yet the sell commercials advertising against it. They know it destroys families, hurts the public, and is very addicting. They should slowly stop the process and refuse to sell cigarettes, they should not be around for future generations.
False Advertising
I have a problem with false advertising since it seems to be apparent everywhere. Everywhere you look is a billboard of makeup, food, cloths, and so on. However, these images are never what they really look like in person. For example, today i saw a H&M billboard of a really cool looking jacket, however when i went to the actual store and saw it in person, it was pretty ugly. Also with food, i see advertisements of certain foods from restaurants and when i order them in person, they don’t look nearly as appetizing as from the billboard. Furthermore, this occurs with big cities, for since i moved to LA i have seen several billboards, and cards and images portraying New York, and the images are false media, for they make bad areas look good and good areas look bad. Every since taking communication, i have noticed several upon several instances of false media, and it is very interesting for it is very hypocritical.
Shallow Movies
In recent years, i feel that the movie industry has been putting out many shallow movies aimed toward certain age groups, trying to attract large audiences, instead of putting time and effort to put forward a good movie. For example, the movie “Piranha”, just recently came out, and honestly i don’t see how that movie can be taken seriously, it seems that it was strictly aimed for high school and college students to see another cheesy action movie filled with boobs, drugs, and alcohol, a party scene. I feel that if they would save the money and time on movies such as this one and put it towards another movie of the same genre, and similar vibe, they can create a better movie that would attract a larger audience. It just upsetting that there are several screenwriters with great ideas and talents who are not known yet, and deprived the chance to take a shot a making a blockbuster hit because a fund they could use was payed for a cheesy movie like “Piranha”.
